Faunal association

Upper Oxfordian, Bimammatum zone- Planula zone, Coral Rag of Bourges / France

This faunal association is made up of Terebratulida and Rhynchonellida. The illustrated species belong to four families :

- Rhynchonellidae (Septaliphoria , "Rhynchonella"),

- Terebratulidae or Tchegemithyrididae (Aromasithyris, Juralina, Postepithyris, "Terebratula"),

- Zeilleriidae (Zeillerina)

- Cancellothyrididae (Disculina)

Other species exist but they are rather rare. Their identification isn't finished yet.

Faunal association : in paleontology, the term faunal association designates the whole group of living creatures coming from the same environment, the same bed and the same geological outrop. Faunal association is particularly significant in the domain of the brachiopods.
