The first Eoderoceratidae already appeared at the base of the Sinemurian stage, in the lower Jurassic age.

But only the genus Metaderoceras has been found in the lower Pliensbachian outcrops in the St. Amand- Montrond (Cher) area.

Genus Metaderoceras

This ammonite has an evolute shell with large whorls and a trapezoidal shape. The ornementation consists of strong ribs and tubercles beside the venter.
