The earlier species appeared at the Sinemurian, but later at the Toarcian, the Dactylioceratidae really spreaded out. These rather evolute ammonites had a cadicone shell with bifurcate or polyfurcate ribbing. Sometimes, they also had tubercles.

Prodactylioceras davoei (Sow.) Ø 70 mm
Coeloceras pettos (Quenst.) M Ø 21 & 20 mm and "Polymorphites" evolutus (Dom. & Mou.) m Ø 11 mm, probably a dimorphic pair.

Genus Prodactylioceras

Very evolute ammonite with almost circular section and fine ribbing to which are sporadically added tubercles.

Genus Coeloceras

Evolute ammonite with thick whorls, simple ribbs and tubercles.
